Linda A. Rodriguez has announced her candidacy for re-election to Hays County Court at Law No. 2, a position she has held since 1990.
Rodriguez is the Juvenile Judge for Hays County and is chairman of the Hays County Juvenile Board.
Rodriguez graduated from San Marcos High School, UT-Austin with a Bachelor of Journalism, and the University of Texas School of Law.
She entered private practice here as a criminal, probate and family lawyer and served as Legal Aid Attorney for Community Action and Students Legal Advisor at Texas State University.
Past president of the Hays County Bar Association, former board member of the Hays Caldwell County Women’s Center, she has chaired the Hays County Grievance Committee and is a board member for the LBJ Museum and the Hays County Bail Bond Board.
She has served on campus and district leadership teams at Hays CISD, but says she most enjoys speaking to area students about careers in law and the dangers of driving while intoxicated.
She participated in a video production of “A Night to Remember; the Truth about DWI”, jointly sponsored by UT Austin and Texas State University. She has been a frequent guest speaker for “Shattered Dreams” at San Marcos High School, Hays High School, Lehman High School and Dripping Springs High School.
Rodriguez was recently honored by the Texas Center for the Judiciary, chosen to receive a full scholarship awarded to only 45 Texas judges to attend the National Conference on Juvenile and Family Law in Las Vegas in March, 2010.
“With Judge Howard Warner’s illness and passing over the past two years, it has been a difficult transition for all of us. He left a great legacy, however, and we’re moving forward, staying busy and committed to making our courts the most efficient in the area. It’s been a rewarding experience, an honor and a privilege to serve the citizens of Hays County and I look forward to another four years,” Rodriguez said.
